Tour de Yorkshire, Tour de Weavers

The Tour De Yorkshire will start in the East Riding of Yorkshire in Beverley for both the mens as well as the women racing. This stage will eventually work its way inland to end the day in Doncaster covering a total combined distance of over 300km or 143 miles. This is quite a distance to cover in a day for anyone but these athletes will be doing these kind of distances for the next 3 consecutive days taking in much of the breath taking scenery that can only be found right here in Yorkshire. However, the riders won't be able to take this in for long as they will be concentrating on doing their best.

After finishing in Doncaster on the 3rd May the race will resume on the second day (4th May) from Barnsley & continue winding its way through Yorkshire passing many Bars & Restaurants along the way no doubt all packed out with supporters as well ask fans of the riders & cycling enthusiast alike. The fourth day of racing sees the athletes start in the historic town of Richmond, North Yorkshire. This stage promises to be something of a spectacle in racing as this stage has only 2 major hill climbs that will test the riders (Sutton Bank & Silpho). Other than this much of the race on this day will cover level ground, this promises to produce some high speed racing as well as some interesting tactics from the riders. The fourth & final day of the racing in the Tour De Yorkshire 2018 sees the race start from the historic town of Halifax. Offering 6 different hill climbs (& of course downhills) this 190km race will see some of the hardest racing from the athletes yet. The route from Halifax to Leeds passes through a number of smaller towns and villages that are all quite remarkable for their own reasons. The route will see the race leave Halifax & travel through: Luddenden Foot (Home of At The Weavers Bar & Italian Restaurant), Hebden Bridge, Skipton & Bolton Abbey before finally reaching Middlebam nr Leyburn (North Yorkshire) & turning south through Masham & Pately Bridge & finally ending the days racing as well as the tour in Leeds.

Gin is a well known and loved drink by many throughout the world. However, do you know the origin of gin & do you know the difference between your Gin & Jenever. Not many people do so here’s a quick history lesson

  • Gin originates from London – Gin isn’t Dutch. Jenever is Dutch & is essentially a light Whiskey with Juniper
  • In Holland Jenever was sold in pharmacies till the late 1600s as a medicinal aid if you went to the local pub chances are you would have been drinking Vermouth instead
  • British troops fighting in the 30years war were given Jenever as it had the placebo effect of giving courage – hence the term Dutch Courage we have today
  • Little-known gin facts: the best way to taste gins for comparison is at room temperature, diluted with an equal measure of water. This reveals both qualities and flaws. You will never see our Gin in the fridge
  • No gin and tonic of quality can be made without high-quality tonic as well, as the tonic makes up a significant proportion of the drink. Artisanal tonic makers like Fever-Tree are recommended
If that isn’t enough to make you want to sample something a little different to your usual alcoholic drink perhaps our out of this world Gin Happy Hour Deals will.

Not one hour not two hours but 4 hours of Gin Happy hour from 1500 – 1900 Monday to Friday we must be absolutely mad, but this gets better we have Gin Happy hour again on Saturday for 5 hours yes 5 hours from 1200 -1700 & 3 hours on Sunday 1800-2100. Could we get any more crackers than that – yes we can not only are we extending Gin Happy Hour we are making the prices so ridiculously cheap you wont be able to say no. 2 Double Gin’s each with a Fever-Tree Tonic for only £10 come down now to At The Weavers and enjoy your gin in our Italian Bar & Restaurant.
